High of 75

It’s unusually warm in Texas. My mind is telling me February but my body is telling me March. It feels like spring and I love it.

Shirt: Daily Look (I love this silk version)
Skirt: Forever 21 (similar here)
Shoes: Vans
Watch: Michael Kors

Vans and Converse are my summer shoe of choice. I’ve never been a fan of sandals or flip flops, so I’m usually seen in a pair of sneakers and a skirt. I’ve missed this floral skirt over the winter months and can’t wait to add it to my regular rotation. It’s my lifeblood.

What are you excited to dig out of your closet for the warmer months?

Have a great Monday and thank you for reading.

Love Club

It’s the day of love!

Or the day of, you know, eating heart-shaped stuff.

Dress: H&M
Jacket: Target
Shoes: Urban Outfitters (Knock-offs here)
Necklace: H&M

I’m feeling very “Maybe it’s Maybelline in these photos.” But whatever, it’s totally apropro because today is also Fancy Friday. Click here to check out the other lovely people sharing their V-Day looks.

It’s been a running joke that my boyfriend of two years has never bought me flowers, because he hasn’t, UNTIL TODAY. Behold, my bountiful bouquet!

Such a pretty little arrangement. We’re keeping it cool tonight with some Pinkberry and pizza. My kind of Valentine’s treat.

Thank you for reading and have a safe and wonderful evening.

Today’s makeup + disappointing product

My makeup is always the same look achieved with different products. Excuse me for loving a taupe eye and pink lip.

From left to right: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in Shade 4.0, LORAC Pro Palette, Smashbox Photo Finish Dark Spot Correcting Primer, Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer in 5, Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette, NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base, Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara, Wet n Wild Eyeliner in Black Black, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, MICA Beauty Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in #6 Fiesta.

I have sensitive acne-prone oily skin, so finding a trustworthy moisturizer is always a battle. I knew I had found it in one Korean product, but decided to give the Josie Maran Light Argan Oil a try. It was recommended as a great combat for my skin type on the Sephora website, and I’ve been bombarded with articles and videos about the use of argan oil on your hair and skin. So, I pulled the $48 price tag bandaid.

Josie Maran 100 percent Pure Argan Oil Light

Big mistake.

Not only did this moisturizer result in a horrible breakout along my neck, it made my pores more visible and my nose looked like a ripe strawberry against a greasy Cici’s pizza. It was awful. I continued to use it on the ends of my hair and on my face for several weeks hoping it took a little while for my skin to adjust, but no. My skin went completely downhill. After two months of use, I’ve returned to my old favorite.

Holika Holika Water March Moisture Green Full Cream

I found this moisturizer while browsing the adorable site PrettyandCute.com. They sell Asian beauty products that I can’t find in stores and have a large selection of BB creams and skincare products. I had been wanting to try Holika Holika since one of my favorite beauty YouTubers, frmheadtotoe, recommended them. This moisturizer has a fresh scent and a thin film that seals in the witch hazel and Himalayan berry extract. It’s perfect for troubled skin, and will prevent any acne medication from coming off on your pillow at night.

You let me down, Josie Maran. However, I do love the Hot Oil Self-Heating Hair Treatment. So, you’re not completely off my radar.

Have you tried using oils on your face? What is your go-to moisturizer?

Project Live Your Life

Guess what…..

Please please PLEASE vote for me to help promote body diversity in American Eagle’s Back to School campaign. Fantastic people win every year, but they always look like the models AE would hire anyway. I want to break that tradition and be the first size 12 model for their campaign. Click here to go to my profile or on the Live Your Life widget on the left sidebar. You can sign in with your Facebook account and click the little hearts to “love” my photos, which counts as a vote. Don’t worry, it doesn’t post anything on your Facebook without your permission.

Dress: H&M
Trench: American Eagle (beautiful version here)
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Shasa

In celebration of Project Live Your Life, I wore my favorite AE trench that has such a charming J.Crew-esque lining. I received this necklace as a gift for my birthday and oh my god do I feel like I need to be dressed as an Egyptian princess. It’s so pretty and heavy like armor. I love it.

I would appreciate your support for helping me achieve this longtime dream of mine. I keep track of the campaign every year and I never have the confidence to enter. This ends now.

Have a great Monday and thank you for reading.

I live in Houston where the rodeo is a pretty big deal. Excuse me while I get into the pre-rodeo spirit with my plaid shirt and deer necklace.

“Leah, is that even a deer? What does that have to do with the rodeo?”

Sshh, just go with it.

Have a great Saturday and thank you for reading.

Stupid? Cute? Stupid cute?

A lot of my favorite stores have started to introduce their spring line, and I’m excited about a lot of the pretty pastel leather dresses and rose gold sandals I’ve been seeing. But some items are confusing. I can’t decide if they’re stupid, cute, or stupid cute. As in it looks so stupid that it’s cute:

Stupid Cute - Spring

1. Jeffrey Campbell Rakel Platform Sandal
2. American Eagle Soft Pant
3. Zara Long-Sleeve Dress

To be honest, I actually really like the soft pants. I mean, c’mon, they’re called soft pants. They’re pajamas you can wear outside. Get in my closet.

I think I was most convinced by how cute they’re styled on¬†AE’s blog.

See what I mean?

What do you think? Stupid? Cute? So stupid that it’s cute?

I can’t believe I’ve been at my new job for a month. I’ve definitely been playing around with my work outfits more and getting creative with my limited business casual wardrobe.

Sweater: Target (similar here)
Skirt: Banana Republic (Ivory version)
Shoes: Macy’s
Purse: Forever 21 (similar here)
Necklace: Baublebar

Can you tell I just got off of work?

I played with patterns and textures today. The striped pattern is bold enough to pair with the smaller wool knit on the skirt. I balanced the black collar of the sweater with a large necklace, and kept my tights and shoes neutral. I was skeptical about my outfit as I was heading out the door, but the more I shamelessly looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, the more I liked it.

I am tired of wearing dark colors though. Come to me, spring!

Have a great Tuesday and thank you for reading.
